Summer HOlidays 2017

Junior Camp – 1-2nd August

 

This year we are holding a junior camp suitable for children from the age of 6.  The camp is run over two days which will be filled with horse riding and fun activities.  The camp includes one overnight stay in a tent, however this is optional.  If your child doesn’t want to camp then they can be picked up on the evening and return the next morning.  On the first morning the tents will be put up and all of the children settled in.  After lunch the children will be taking part in some activities on the yard and also have a riding lesson on their allocated pony.  The children will be looking after the same pony for the duration of camp and learn various skills on how to look after it as if it’s their own.  On the second day the children will have a ride in the morning and then prepare for a ride that will be performed in the afternoon for the parents to watch.

What you need:

Tent (usually share 2/3 per tent)

Sleeping bag and pillow

Air bed/something to sleep on                                                                                                                                          

Torch

Riding equipment

Clothes for evening activities including sensible footwear ie trainers

if you would like to book a space the cost is £100.00.  This includes 3 meals per day, 24hr supervision and riding activities.  A deposit of £50.00 will secure your child a space, this is to be paid by 26th June.  Please ask Amy or Jess for a booking form and return asap.

Senior Camp – August 21st-23rd

Senior camp is suitable for anyone over the age of 9.  It includes two nights of camping.  Each person will be allocated a pony for the whole duration of camp and be responsible for feeding, grooming, mucking out and caring for their pony.  Senior Camp will include various riding activities including, riding out on hacks, cross country clinics and a riding competition on the final day.  The cost of camp is £160.00 per person and includes, 3 meals per day, 24hr supervision and riding activities.  There will be a BBQ on the final day for parents to come along to.

Tuesday 8th August – 2hr Evening Hack and Take-away

For riders over the age of 12.   Enjoy the summer evening with a chilled out hack with friends.  Once returned back at the yard, horses will be put away and we will feast on a take-away of your choice.  5.00pm-8.00pm £30.00 (excludes take-away).    

Wednesday 9th August- Pony Day

This is suitable for anyone aged 4 years and over.  Children will be split into groups and will be fully supervised at all times.  The morning includes a group riding lesson and a horse care lesson where the children will learn different topics on how to care for a pony.  After lunch the children will join into groups where they will pick a pony for the grooming competition.  This is a great way for the children to practice their creative skills!  We will finish the day with the extremely popular gymkhana games where the children will be put into teams and race against each other to win rosettes!  A fun packed day!  Please bring a packed lunch box.  9.30am-3.30pm £40.00

 

 

Thursday 10th August  – Loan a Pony Day

Anyone over the age of 6 years are welcome.  Each rider will be allocated a horse/pony to look after as their own for the day. The day will include tasks that will teach the children the day to day care on how to look after a horse or pony.  There will be two rides, this may include; jumping, flat work, games, hacking, lunging and cross country riding.  Stable management lessons will also be given, as well as chores including mucking out, grooming and tack cleaning! Please bring a packed lunch box.  9.30am-3.30pm £40.00

 

Wednesday 16th August- Pony Day

Friday 18th August – Cross Country Clinic

For riders over the age of 10. This is open to riders that have some jumping experience and are wanting to further their knowledge and learn how to ride in the open and over cross country jumps.  The clinic will start by hacking to Bank House Farm where a lesson in the field and up and down hills will be given.  The second part of the clinic will be over cross country jumps in the cross country field at Trundle Lane Riding School.  The groups will be split into 4/5 riders.  Body Protectors are compulsory. 10.00am – 12.00pm £30.00  

 

 

Sunday 20th August – Pub ride

Lead rein is optional.  This is a walk and trot ride consisting of all road riding through the village and surrounding areas with a short stop off at the local pub. 1.00pm-3.00pm £30.00 includes refreshments.  This is a 2 hour ride suitable for riders from the age of 9. 

 

Tuesday 22nd August – Fraisthorpe Beach Ride  Suitable for riders confident at walk, trot and canter on a variety of ponies off the lead rein.  After previous successful trips were hosting our second trip to Fraisthorpe beach.  It will give the ponies and riders a new fun filled experience.  Families are welcome to come along too.  Riders are to arrive at the yard for 8.00am and will return back at approximately 6.00pm.  Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.  Limited spaces available. 8.00am-6.00pm £80.00 for the day (a deposit of £40.00 will be required by the 4th of August).

Sunday 27th August Picnic Ride 

This is designed for children from the age of 4 upwards.  Mums welcome to ride too!  We will take the ponies on a hack around the village and lanes and stop for a picnic.  Please bring a picnic of your choice.  You are not expected to carry the picnic on horseback.

Sunday 3rd September - Trek and Trough

For riders over the age of 12.  Must be confident at hacking.  An exciting opportunity to ride over different terrain.  This will include exploring some new routes around Sykehouse and surrounding villages, including bridleways and river banks.  On arrival back at the yard we will enjoy a well earnt lunch! Food choices available.  12.00pm – 3.00pm  £50.00
